Goodland, Florida and the Ten Thousand Islands

Look east from any of the tall condos on Marco Island, Florida and notice how the suburban sprawl turns to mangroves. A couple miles away, in those mangroves, lies the sleepy little village of Goodland, FL, tucked away on the border of the Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge. Goodland isn’t known to be a fishing destination, but it should be. Its small size and limited offerings are the perfect escape for anglers searching for a world class fishery with close proximity to all the amenities of Marco Island and Naples.

Fishing Charters in Goodland, FL

Fishing around Goodland, FL and the 10,000 Islands National Wildlife Refuge is a year-round activity. The area is a vast shallow water tidal backcountry where fresh water from the Everglades flows into the salt water of the Gulf of Mexico. Mangrove shorelines surround the bays, flats, rivers, and creeks, that comprise the area and are home to many species of saltwater fish, including our primary targets: snook, redfish, and tarpon.

Snook

Snook can be found all over Southwest Florida, and snook fishing is our staple fishery. Everglades snook are fishable year round.

Redfish

Redfish call the Everglades home year round and their willingness to take flies and lures makes them one of our favorite fish to target.

Tarpon

Watching an Everglades tarpon bite and come jumping out of the water is one of the most exciting things in all outdoor sports.

Goodland, FL and Ten Thousand Islands NWR offer anglers protection from wind in all directions where calm water creates comfortable fishing. The water clarity in the Ten Thousand Islands can vary from chocolate milk, to iced tea, to gin clear and the conditions dictate the fishing. We fish artificial (spin/plug) gear from technical poling skiffs. Most days are spent in water less than ten feet deep, poling or trolling areas while either sight fishing or blind casting.
